A Guide To Easy Weight Loss

by James Redder

An easy weight loss method that works every time has yet to be invented but that doesn't mean you should give up looking; many good methods do exist but it will depend on the user as to how effective any of these will ultimately be. It is important to be aware of just how harmful being overweight or obese is to health and many serious health conditions are caused as a result of excess weight.

There are plenty of easy weight loss methods available on the Internet, but what you don't realize is that you are the person who is going to make it easy. Your primary reason for losing weight must be clear whether it is too improve your looks or for health reasons; once you know this, then you must decide.

Many factors affect how well your weight loss program will go including how much physical activity you have during a normal day, the type of food you eat, how many meals you have and when those meals are eaten. Some people are of the opinion that losing weight quickly is the best way but this often causes other medical problems like heartburn or even anemia and creates unrealistic targets.

To lose a realistic pound in weight each and every week all you need to do is reduce your food intake or exercise enough to loose 500 calories each day. Although most people eat far too much junk food, there is nothing wrong with a little now and then, and no-one should have to give up every type of food they enjoy although some thought should be given to how much is consumed.

Emotions have a great deal to do with weight gain as many people (more likely women but not exclusively) eat more when they feel depressed, unwanted or unloved. It is nonsense to believe that continued eating and weight gain will not have serious consequences to your health as we now see in the increase of conditions like type 2 diabetes, heart conditions and cancer. One of the first steps in easy weight loss is assessing why the person is actually eating the amount they do as this can be the key to long term weight management.

Studies have shown that people who have started weight loss programs with a light-hearted determination are more likely to accomplish the looked-for results. A positive attitude and open mind are very often the keys to improving life style and eliminating the bad habits. Together with the loss of extra pounds comes a boost in energy and vitality as well as a sense of well being that is directly related to an improving self-esteem.

In Closing

Results are what count and when an easy weight loss program is producing these results it is much easier for a person to continue with it.

Hoodia 60 Minutes and Hoodia BBC Reports Are Being Misrepresented

by Reagan Miers

After researching and writing on hoodia gordonii and hoodia supplements for years, I felt it was important to write an article about the hoodia 60 Minutes and BBC reports that are supposedly endorsing specific hoodia diet pills. The BBC and 60 Minutes never endorsed a specific hoodia diet pill. Any website that claims they did is lying.

Visit almost any website that is selling or promoting hoodia supplements and you'll likely see the words prominently displayed, "As featured on" or "Endorsed by," followed by the CBS 60 Minutes logo and the BBC logo. What you are led to believe is that the hoodia diet pill being promoted was featured or endorsed by these two media programs. Not only was a specific hoodia supplement not featured or endorsed by 60 minutes or the BBC, but no hoodia diet pill was tested or endorsed at all!

60 minutes reporter, Leslie Stahl, did do a story on the hoodia gordonii plant on November 21, 2004. She traveled to South Africa's Kalahari Desert to see the native plant growing in the wild. She ate a small piece of it. She later reported that she wasn't hungry all day and that the hoodia gordonii plan did work in suppressing her appetite.

That's all she said about hoodia. 60 minutes did not endorse any specific hoodia supplement. The CBS program didn't even feature a hoodia supplement to begin with! You would never know this unless you actually read the transcripts of the 60 minutes program yourself. Unfortunately, all too many hoodia sellers have capitalized on this story and have twisted it to their advantage to sell more of their products.

The BBC report is another example where hoodia sellers have taken a story and have spun it to their advantage. The BBC did a documentary on hoodia in 2003. Tom Mangold, a well-known BBC correspondent, also traveled to the Kalahari Desert to try the hoodia gordonii plant himself. Mr. Mangold and his camera man each ate a small piece of the plant. The pair reported that they, "did not even think about food" for the rest of the day. Even more amazing, they reported that they didn't want breakfast the next morning and their appetite during lunchtime was nearly nonexistent.

Again, you'll notice the BBC story did not even test a specific hoodia supplement, let alone endorse one. Just as Leslie Stahl had done in her 60 Minutes story, Tom Mangold of the BBC actually ate the plant itself. Neither reporter tried a specific hoodia product. And they certainly didn't endorse a specific brand.

If you find yourself visiting a website that claims their product was featured on 60 minutes or the BBC, go to another site. Any company that would twist the hoodia 60 minutes or BBC reports to their own advantage is misrepresenting themselves and their product. They are not being honest. If they aren't honest about something like this, how honest are they about the effectiveness and authenticity of their product?
